Hello all! We are assuming you are reading this because you are interested in ending modern day slavery. Approaching this worldwide problem can seem very overwhelming at times. Considering that human trafficking is a crime whose activity comes second only to the underground drug trade, it can be difficult knowing where to start or what part you can have in stopping the traffic. We know we are only students, and that we are only a small group of people, but if you can imagine thousands of groups across the nation with the same vision and the same passion for rescuing and supporting victims of human trafficking then the group starts to feel like a much more powerful force, doesn't it? We know that we can only do so much but at least we can do that! No victory is too small when it comes to human rights. Each and EVERY rescue is a noble feat; each and every victim of human trafficking is a valuable person. As a group, we hope to provide you with valuable resources and practical ways that you can become involved everyday. We know that knowledge leads to power and awareness leads to prevention. If we are able to educate the community around us on ways to avoid purchasing slave labor and ways to actively contact companies and politicians in charge of human rights decisions then that in and of itself is progress! That being said, the next blog post we have is going to be very limited on words. We will be putting together a collaboration of links and activities each one of you is able to utilize in their own path to eradicating present slavery. As Margaret Read once said, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has". Join us and many others across the nation on February 27th as we do our part to stand for freedom with the End It Movement! :-)
